I'm Really A Mermaid

I know I did a pretty lame job of documenting the mermaid parade the other day but it was because I was having such a great time. I haven't been to Coney Island in about 4 years so going back was such a blast. I got to hang out with my 2 Rachels and my new friend Phil. Coney Island has changed so much! Luna Park looks phenomenal and even though I had to head to work, I was able to fit in one ride in.

Of course when you go to a mermaid parade you have to break out the long colorful hair. I wasn't really prepared to be an all out mermaid due to work and lack of preparation, but that wasn't going to keep me from letting everyone know that I was really a mermaid. So I paired my blue wig with this fantastic Wildfox shirt and some green mermaid shorts that match my leggings from this post.

So here is to finding more reasons to celebrating your inner mermaid this summer!

Mermaid Parade

I had a blast at the mermaid parade on Saturday. I got to hang out with my really great friends and play mermaid, which we all know Rachel and I are no strangers to doing.
I'll have my full mermaid parade style post up on Wednesday but until then here are a few photos (and I do only mean a few. I was having way too much fun playing) from Monday's festivities. Some iPhone photos are included.

Be the girl you loved

It's been a busy week of meetings and work. I picked up a job at Beauty and Essex a couple of weeks ago that I'm in love with. I get to work with some of the most beautiful vintage pieces of jewelry I have ever seen.
I spent memorial day with good friends on our roof listening to music, drinking wine and beer, and enjoying each other's company. At one point my neighbor was even kind enough to bring his bearded dragon, Sparky, to come play with us. We got up to the roof in the afternoon and didn't leave until the sun went down. We watched fireworks go off in the distance and danced to Miley Cyrus.
It was the loveliest afternoon with the loveliest friends.

The title is from the song from the James Blake song Retrograde that I'm currently obsessed with. It's been holding special meaning near and dear to my heart recently. I hope you enjoy it.

Styled by the lovely Rachel Lynch, this outfit was inspired by my mermaid leggings I got last year. The outfit was complete with these out of control Jeffrey Campbell shoes that fit perfectly as my faux fins.
