Little Liam

I got to meet my newest nephew yesterday.
His name is Liam and he's just so cute. I'm such a sucker for babies, I really am. My heart melts in to a big puddle when I see new little members of my family.

Liam was born about 3 months early. We were all very surprised to see Liam come into the world November 20th instead of around his due date, which was set for February 19th.
My family spent many days worried for the newest member and praying that he would get better each and every day, no matter how long it took. Each day, Liam's lungs got a little stronger, his skin got it's normal color and the little 2 pound 3 ounce baby grew and grew.

Yesterday was the first day I got to hold the little prince and I cried when I first laid eyes on him. He was free of his breathing and eating tubes and was moving around freely. When I held him, he opened his little eyes and began to squirm around. He has so much hair on his head and the nurses like to spike it up in a little mohawk. When I was a baby, my sister did the same thing and everyone would affectionately call me Spike. Liam has picked up a similar nickname.

I learned that he loves to hold his hands by his head and stretch them out. I learned that he doesn't really cry out when he's hungry, just little loud noises to let you know that he's ready to eat. I learned that I love him already with all of my heart and I cannot wait until he's ready to come home.
